If you are ready to embark on your Invisalign treatment, you might be curious to know what to expect during your Invisalign consultation. This mini-guide has been written to help you get ready.
Invisalign Consultation Fees
At kohe™ Dental, our founders believe strongly in democratising knowledge. Consultations and assessments are an essential part of patient education and a great way for us to get to know your orthodontic condition better.
This is why all consultation fees for orthodontic treatments (including that of Invisalign) are not chargeable. Our consultation fees include X-rays (OPG, Latceph), 3D intraoral scans, and if necessary, PA X-rays or 3D CBCT X-rays.
Should you wish to come in for a consultation to find out whether you are comfortable with our clinic and clinicians, there are no charges to you. There is no catch. Our non-charged consultations are valid even if you are not ready to take up treatment with us.
However, please take note that if you wish to take a copy of our X-rays or 3D scans home with you for reference (as a non-patient), these are chargeable.
Invisalign Patient Journey
When you first make an appointment with kohe™ Dental, you will be scheduled for a 30-minute consultation with one of our clear aligner dentists. This will be either with myself (Dr Kassandra Ong) or Dr Amanda Koh.
Checking in with our Virtual Receptionist
When you visit the clinic, you will check in with our virtual receptionist via your SingPass account by scanning one of the QR codes at the counter. Please scan the QR code that corresponds with the dentist or clinician that you are seeing.
Checking in in this manner helps us protect your identification details as the information that is sent to our dental electronic medical records are encrypted. If you do not have a SingPass account, please let us know so that we can help check you in manually.
Detailed Consultation with our Dentist
When you are called for the consultation, the consultation starts with you in one of our consultation rooms. It does not begin at the dental chair. This process is a deliberate design. We prefer speaking to you properly first to get to know your main concerns, your fears or hesitation, and what you wish your final outcome to be.
The consultation process also allows us to show you alternative treatments through our dental typodonts. There are many alternative orthodontic solutions available besides Invisalign clear aligners. We showcase them to give you a full picture of what to expect for each treatment.
Thorough Dental and Oral Assessment
Once we are certain about your desired outcomes and expectations, we then head to the dental chair.
In the dental chair, we will do a thorough examination of your teeth, oral structures and general teeth alignment. We will pay careful attention to the gums, dental hygiene as well whether there are any dental caries that need further attention.
Using the iTero 3D Intraoral scanner, we will digitally scan your teeth and mouth. Using this digital scanner, we are able to show you a tentative Before and After view of your teeth post-orthodontic treatment.
Treatment Cost Quote and Estimated Duration of Treatment
Once your dental assessment is done, we will provide you with a detailed treatment cost quote that includes possible general dentistry work. We will also provide you with the estimated treatment duration based on your unique orthodontic condition.
In some cases, besides orthodontic treatment like Invisalign, you might need to treat your dental caries or remove teeth before undergoing Invisalign treatment.
X-rays and Photo Documentation
If you have decided to proceed with Invisalign treatment, we will send you for X-rays (OPG and Latceph). We will also take front, side, intraoral upper and lower teeth photos to plan your Invisalign case.
Once your documentation is done, you will proceed to our virtual receptionist to make payment for treatment. We will then schedule you in for a treatment discussion of your 3D ClinCheck plan with your dentist.
Post-Consultation Summary
If you are still unsure about whether or not you wish to take up Invisalign treatment, our treatment coordinators will send you a post-consultation summary of the conversation you have had with us. This summary will detail the total treatment duration, cost and recommendations made.
Things to grill your dentist during your Invisalign consultation
During the consultation, you should ask me about the following:
- How long will my Invisalign treatment last?
- What does my Invisalign package include?
- Is there a way to accelerate my Invisalign treatment?
- Is Invisalign going to be suitable for my lifestyle?
- How much would my Invisalign treatment cost, including other general dentistry work that I might need to do?
- If I do not wish to remove my teeth, can I do palatal expanders first?
- Is my condition suitable for non-extraction orthodontics?
- After Invisalign treatment, how long do I need to wear my retainers?
If you are curious to find out more about Invisalign treatment before starting it, you can find out more in our comprehensive Invisalign FAQs blog.
Invisalign Financial Information
While we try our best to make our Invisalign financial information as transparent as possible, you might still have some lingering questions about our payment schemes.
Here are some of the more commonly asked questions when it comes to Invisalign financial information:
Why does Invisalign cost more than Angel Aligner?
Invisalign charges a slight premium on their lab fees in comparison to Angel Aligner. Because of the higher lab fees, Invisalign generally costs more than Angel Aligner.
If you are brand agnostic, and simply want a predictable clear aligner system, you might want to consider Angel Aligner instead of Invisalign.
Can I use Medisave or CHAS to cover my Invisalign treatment?
No it is not possible for Medisave or CHAS to cover your Invisalign treatment. Invisalign treatment is a non-elective treatment which is not covered by both Medisave or CHAS.
Medisave covers surgical procedures like wisdom tooth surgery, buried tooth surgery, tooth surgery, bone grafting, gum grafting. CHAS covers general dentistry procedures like scaling and polishing, topical fluoride treatment, dental fillings, and tooth extractions.
Can I use Baby Bonus to cover my Invisalign treatment?
If you are a parent looking for Invisalign treatment for your child (below the age of 12), it is possible to use Baby Bonus to cover Invisalign First treatment, or the orthodontic treatment of their sibling(s).
However, it will not be possible to use Baby Bonus to cover your personal Invisalign treatment as an adult.
Can I use my dental insurance to cover my Invisalign treatment?
Yes it is possible for some dental insurances to cover Invisalign or orthodontic treatment. However, most dental insurances only allow coverage for general or surgical dentistry work.
Will I be charged for refinements?
You will not be charged for the first set of refinements. This is included in your Invisalign package. The first set of refinements refers to an additional course of clear aligners at the end of your initial aligner journey.
You do not necessarily need refinements if you are satisfied with the final results of your Invisalign treatment. However, if you would still like to make some minor refinements to your teeth, it is possible to.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes it is possible to pay in instalments with us. We have a comprehensive treatment cost page that details how instalment payments are done.
Please take note that unlike one-time payments, instalment payments are exclusive of 9% GST. We do not have brand promos or absorb 9% GST on instalment payments.
Can I design my own Invisalign instalment plan?
No it is not possible to design your own instalment plan.
Much as we encourage accessibility to clear aligner treatment, the instalment plans that we built are meant to be fair to the patient, Invisalign dentist and the dental clinic.
Are there further discounts for Invisalign?
There will not be any further discounts on our Invisalign treatment costs unless otherwise stated. We constantly review our costs to ensure that we are competitively priced and accessible to most patients.
Our treatment cost page is updated regularly for complete transparency as well as to allow patients like yourself to see whether we fit into your budget. Our Invisalign costs are also one of the most affordable and value-for-money in Singapore and has been designed to be intentionally so.
While we might at times run special Invisalign promotions, these promotions once past their deadline will not be extended.
We encourage all our potential patients to go for a virtual consultation to see whether we fit into your budget before proceeding with an in-person consultation. A virtual consultation will help prevent misalignment in budget and expectations.
Post-Invisalign Consultation: What is Next?
If you have just completed your Invisalign consultation and decided to proceed with us for Invisalign treatment, a discussion of your treatment plan will be arranged with you. This discussion usually happens 1 to 2 weeks from the first consultation you have with us.
The discussion is held online with the Invisalign dentist who will be rendering your treatment. During the discussion, you will go through your stage-by-stage treatment plan, and whether you like the final outcome of the treatment plan.
If there is anything else you would like to amend, you are encouraged to inform the Invisalign dentist during the virtual discussion as any finalised plans will be sent to production with no further amendments.
If you are still considering, please feel free to drop us a message anytime so that we can help with your questions.
While we do see a high-volume of clear aligner patients, we understand that we might not be the right Invisalign dentist for you, but we do not shy away from sharing knowledge. As long as we are able to render assistance to you, we will.
Your Invisalign consultation sets the tone for your Invisalign patient journey!
