Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces use tooth coloured or translucent brackets to straighten your teeth in a way that looks more discreet than traditional metal braces. They combine the strength and control of fixed braces with a gentler, less noticeable appearance, especially in close conversations and photos.
The benefits of ceramic braces are its improved aesthetics. The brackets look tooth coloured and have the same control as metal braces for complex cases. Ceramic braces work well for non-extraction orthodontics and are suitable for adults and teens who want a more refined look while wearing braces.
It is suitable for you if you want straighter teeth but prefer something more discreet than full metal braces, or if you find that the cost of clear aligners are too high.
It is best for patients who require the precision and reliability of fixed braces for crowding or bite correction, attend work or school where appearance matters, and want a balance between subtlety and effectiveness.

Ceramic Braces Explained
Ceramic braces straighten your teeth using brackets that are bonded to the front surface of your teeth and connected by a thin wire.
The difference from traditional metal braces is in the material and colour of the brackets. Ceramic brackets are tooth coloured or translucent, so they blend more naturally with your teeth. When you smile, people tend to notice your teeth rather than your braces.
At kohe™ Dental, ceramic braces are used for patients who want an aesthetic fixed option without compromising on control. They are especially popular with adults, working professionals, and older teens who need reliable orthodontic treatment but prefer a more refined appearance.
Ceramic braces are not only about cosmetics while you are in treatment. They are a tool to help you reach a result that is stable, functional, and in harmony with your face.
Benefits of Ceramic Braces
There are many benefits to taking up ceramic braces treatment such as its discreet and natural appearance, as well as less reliance on discipline than clear aligners.
Ceramic braces also has other immediate advantages that makes it stand out from both metal braces and clear aligner treatments.
More Discreet
Ceramic brackets are tooth coloured or translucent, so they blend in with your natural enamel.
In photos, meetings, and casual conversations, your braces are less obvious than full metal brackets. People may notice that you are having orthodontic treatment, but their attention is more likely to stay on your expression rather than your appliance.
This is especially helpful if you work in a client facing role, attend important interviews, or feel self conscious about visible metal.
Ceramic braces give you the confidence to pursue a fully fixed, precise treatment while still feeling presentable in professional and social settings.
Strong Fixed Control for Complex Movements
Ceramic braces offer the same fundamental mechanics as metal braces.
Because the brackets are fixed to your teeth, it is possible to apply detailed three dimensional control to each tooth. This includes rotation, angulation, torque, and vertical movement.
If you have significant crowding, deep bite, open bite, crossbite, or a combination of issues, ceramic braces can handle this complexity in a predictable way.
They remain active all day and night, so they do not rely on you remembering to wear them.
Aesthetic Improvement Without Requiring Clear Aligners Wearing Discipline
Clear aligners are very popular, but they depend heavily on discipline. You need to wear them for most of the day, every day, and remember to put them back after eating and drinking. Ceramic braces offer a more aesthetic fixed alternative for you if you prefer not to manage removable trays.
Once your ceramic braces are placed, they are always working.
You cannot misplace them or forget to wear them.
For many busy adults or teenagers, this reduces mental load and makes it easier to stay consistent.
You still get an aesthetic advantage compared to full metal braces without having to worry about putting them on and off, or wearing them for 20 – 22 hours like clear aligners.
Natural Appearance
At an aesthetics focused clinic like kohe™ Dental, ceramic braces are not chosen only for their colour. They are part of a wider smile design.
Ceramic brackets allow your smile to look more natural during treatment, which matters if your treatment spans one to two years. You can see your progress and how your teeth are evolving without your braces dominating your appearance.
As your alignment improves, whitening, bonding, and other aesthetic treatments can be planned at the right moment to complete your smile.
Ceramic braces help bridge the gap between orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry, giving you a more coherent final result.
Suitable for Adults and Image Conscious Teenagers
Ceramic braces are ideal if you are an adult who postponed braces earlier in life and now wants to correct your teeth, or if you are a teen who wants orthodontic treatment with an option that feels more mature.
They allow you to attend presentations, weddings, interviews, and important events without feeling that your braces dominate your photos. You can straighten your teeth in a way that matches your life stage and your sense of self, rather than feeling that you are wearing a school style appliance.

Ceramic Braces Treatment Journey at kohe™ Dental
When you take up ceramic braces treatment at kohe™ Dental, you can expect complete cost and treatment transparency with no bill shocks.
Our treatment coordinators have been trained to ensure that you are aware of all our dental treatment costs before you enter the dental clinic.
We have a competitive pricing structure for all our orthodontic and dental aesthetics treatment.
Here is what you can expect when you visit kohe™ Dental for ceramic braces treatment.
Pre-Assessment
When you contact kohe™ Dental, you have an option to book a non-obligatory appointment or conduct a pre-assessment with us virtually.
The pre-assessment is done virtually with a dentist who will assess your suitability for clear aligner treatment.
Our dentist will also inform you on the estimated cost of treatment based on the initial assessment of your dental condition and complexity as well as the tentative treatment duration.
Initial Consultation (1st Visit)
If you have decided to proceed with your appointment with kohe™ Dental, your first visit will involve a dental consultation and assessment with our dentist.
We start every consultation with a casual discussion about your dental concerns. You can share what you dislike about your teeth, bite or smile and what you hope to achieve.
We will then examine your teeth, gums and bite. As part of our comprehensive assessment, we will look at how your upper and lower teeth meet, how much teeth and gum show when at rest or in a full smile, and how your lips and cheek are supported.
On the same day, X-rays (OPG and Latceph) will be taken along with 3D intraoral scans.
For complex orthodontic cases, we also take a CBCT scan (3D X-ray) to plan tooth movement.
These radiographic information help us assess your tooth roots, bone levels, airway and jaw relationships. It also helps us plan your orthodontic case safely, and understand the limits of tooth movement in your case.
Your oral health condition will be explained to you in detail along with the treatment options that are recommended.
Should you decide on the same day that you wish to proceed with ceramic braces treatment, our dentist will conduct a 3D intraoral scan of your mouth and teeth.
The 3D scan forms the basis of your smile journey and helps the dentist treatment plan for your new smile.
The confirmed total amount for treatment will also be explained clearly to you.
Personalised Treatment Plan
We will analyse your dental records to design a plan that balances aesthetics, function and preservation.
The plan will detail the sequence of your ceramic brackets placement, as well as how your wires and auxiliaries (if any) will be staged.
Pre-Braces Cleaning
Scaling and polishing or Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) is done by our oral health therapist (OHT) before your ceramic braces are fitted on your teeth.
This is done to ensure that your gums and teeth are healthy.
Any cavities or failing restorations are treated so that your teeth are stable for movement.
Our OHT will teach you how to brush and clean around brackets and wires using special brushes and floss tools.
This preparation helps you avoid white spots and gum inflammation during treatment.
Ceramic Braces Fitting
We will bond ceramic brackets on your teeth according to the treatment plan.
This step is critical as the position of each bracket influences your final teeth alignment.
Once the brackets are in place, the initial wire is inserted and secured. If self-ligating (2nd generation) brackets are used, the small clips on each bracket are closed.
If ligatures are used in certain areas, they are placed carefully to match your aesthetic preferences.
You will be asked to check your new ceramic braces in a mirror and check your bite to ensure that there is no unexpected contact with the brackets.
You will receive orthodontic wax and instructions on how to eat and go about your daily life with your ceramic brackets.
Adjustment and Adaptation
In the first few days, you will feel pressure on your teeth as they begin to move.
Your cheeks and lips may rub against the new brackets. This is normal.
Orthodontic wax and simple pain relief can help during this phase.
You are encouraged to eat softer foods and to avoid very hard or sticky items that could damage your brackets.
You soon notice that your braces are less visible at normal speaking distance than you expected, especially in indoor lighting. This often increases your confidence to smile even while you are in treatment.
Regular Review Appointments
You will attend regular review visits at kohe™ Dental.
At each visit, we will check your progress, change wires when needed, and add or adjust elastics or other auxiliaries.
As treatment progresses, wires become stronger and more shaped to refine your tooth positions, bite, and smile arc.
Ceramic brackets continue to hold the wires in the planned positions, allowing detailed control of angulation, rotation, and root position.
We will keep you updated on how far you have come and what the next goals are.
You can ask questions and share any areas that feel uncomfortable so they can be adjusted.
Bite Correction
Once your teeth are largely aligned, the focus shifts to your bite and the fine details of your smile.
We will check how your back teeth fit together, how your upper and lower teeth overlap, and whether your midlines match your facial midline.
Braces Removal and Retainer Scans
When your teeth goals are met and your bite is stable, your braces are removed.
The ceramic brackets are gently detached from your teeth and the adhesive is polished away.
You can feel the smooth surfaces of your teeth again and see your new smile clearly.
3D intraoral impressions are taken to make your retainers.
You will then be guided on how often you should wear them, how to clean them, and how to ensure your teeth is retained in its current position.
You can choose between clear removable retainers, fixed bonded retainers or metal retainers to help maintain your alignment.
Long Term Review and Retainers
After ceramic braces removal, your orthodontic journey does not stop there!
You will produce a set of retainers to retain your new set of teeth.
If you are planning teeth whitening, bonding, dental veneers, or other dental aesthetic treatments, these are scheduled once your orthodontic result is stable.
The same attention to aesthetics and function continues in this phase, ensuring that any further dental work complements your new tooth positions and supports long term stability.
Ceramic Braces Treatment Duration
The duration of ceramic braces treatment varies with the complexity of your case and your response to treatment. Simple alignment for mild crowding may be shorter, while comprehensive treatment for significant crowding or bite correction can take longer.
Most full orthodontic treatments with ceramic braces fall in a similar time range to metal braces. Many comprehensive cases take approximately 1.5 to 2.5 years, although some cases might be shorter or longer.
Your biology, your cooperation, and any combined treatments such as jaw growth guidance, use of accelerated orthodontics tools or restorative work all influence timing.
At your consultation, we will provide an estimated treatment window and update you as you progress. The goal is not speed at any cost, but a stable, healthy, and aesthetic result that will serve you well in the long term.
Ceramic Braces Cost in Singapore
Ceramic braces (1st generation) cost from $3,800 and from $4,500 (2nd generation) at kohe™ Dental.
In Singapore, ceramic braces usually cost more than conventional metal braces because of the material cos.
Fees depend on the clinic, the experience of the orthodontic team, and the complexity of your case.
Comprehensive ceramic braces treatment for both arches in private practice typically ranges from around $4,500 to $5,800 or more.
Costs may also increase if your case requires extensive bite correction, additional appliances, or coordination with restorative and aesthetic treatments.
When comparing costs, it is important to consider
- The thoroughness of the diagnostic and planning process
- Whether non extraction options are genuinely explored and explained
- The quality of follow up care and retainers
- The integration with overall smile design and restorative dentistry
At kohe™ Dental, you receive a transparent quotation that explains what is included in your ceramic braces treatment, how payments can be staged, and how your orthodontics fits within your wider aesthetic or rehabilitative plan.

Ceramic Braces: Frequently Asked Questions
Commonly asked questions about ceramic braces.
Are ceramic braces as effective as metal braces?
Ceramic braces can be as effective as metal braces for simple to complex orthodontic problems. They use the same principle of brackets and wires to move teeth into better positions. The main difference is the material and colour of the brackets, not the way they guide your teeth.
For most crowding, spacing, and bite issues, ceramic brackets can provide excellent control as long as they are bonded correctly and paired with appropriate wire sequences.
Modern ceramic bracket designs have improved strength and more refined shapes compared with older designs, which allows us to perform detailed teeth movements with confidence.
There are some nuances. Ceramic brackets can be slightly bulkier than metal brackets and may not be ideal in all positions, especially on lower teeth where opposing tooth contact is heavy. For this reason, we may sometimes recommend a combination approach with ceramic on the upper front teeth and metal on certain back or lower teeth. This combination gives you aesthetic benefits where they matter most while keeping maximum strength where forces are highest.
In very complex cases or where very large forces are needed, metal brackets might be more suitable in specific regions. We will explain these decisions clearly before fitting the brackets on you.
Ceramic braces are not a cosmetic gimmick. They are a serious orthodontic tool that in the right hands can produce the same quality of result as metal braces for the vast majority of patients.
