If you have decided to proceed with your appointment with kohe™ Dental, your first visit will involve a dental consultation and assessment with our dentist.

We start every consultation with a casual discussion about your dental concerns. You can share what you dislike about your teeth, bite or smile and what you hope to achieve. 

We will then examine your teeth, gums and bite. As part of our comprehensive assessment, we will look at how your upper and lower teeth meet, how much teeth and gum show when at rest or in a full smile, and how your lips and cheek are supported.

On the same day, X-rays (OPG and Latceph) will be taken along with 3D intraoral scans.

For complex orthodontic cases, we also take a CBCT scan (3D X-ray) to plan tooth movement. 

These radiographic information help us assess your tooth roots, bone levels, airway and jaw relationships. It also helps us plan your orthodontic case safely, and understand the limits of tooth movement in your case. 

Your oral health condition will be explained to you in detail along with the treatment options that are recommended. 

Should you decide on the same day that you wish to proceed with ceramic braces treatment, our dentist will conduct a 3D intraoral scan of your mouth and teeth. 

The 3D scan forms the basis of your smile journey and helps the dentist treatment plan for your new smile. 

The confirmed total amount for treatment will also be explained clearly to you.

We will analyse your dental records to design a plan that balances aesthetics, function and preservation. 

The plan will detail the sequence of your ceramic brackets placement, as well as how your wires and auxiliaries (if any) will be staged.

Scaling and polishing or Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) is done by our oral health therapist (OHT) before your ceramic braces are fitted on your teeth. 

This is done to ensure that your gums and teeth are healthy.

Any cavities or failing restorations are treated so that your teeth are stable for movement.

Our OHT will teach you how to brush and clean around brackets and wires using special brushes and floss tools.

This preparation helps you avoid white spots and gum inflammation during treatment.

We will bond ceramic brackets on your teeth according to the treatment plan.

This step is critical as the position of each bracket influences your final teeth alignment. 

Once the brackets are in place, the initial wire is inserted and secured. If self-ligating (2nd generation) brackets are used, the small clips on each bracket are closed. 

If ligatures are used in certain areas, they are placed carefully to match your aesthetic preferences. 

You will be asked to check your new ceramic braces in a mirror and check your bite to ensure that there is no unexpected contact with the brackets. 

You will receive orthodontic wax and instructions on how to eat and go about your daily life with your ceramic brackets.

In the first few days, you will feel pressure on your teeth as they begin to move.

Your cheeks and lips may rub against the new brackets. This is normal.

Orthodontic wax and simple pain relief can help during this phase.

You are encouraged to eat softer foods and to avoid very hard or sticky items that could damage your brackets.

You soon notice that your braces are less visible at normal speaking distance than you expected, especially in indoor lighting. This often increases your confidence to smile even while you are in treatment.

You will attend regular review visits at kohe™ Dental.

At each visit, we will check your progress, change wires when needed, and add or adjust elastics or other auxiliaries.

As treatment progresses, wires become stronger and more shaped to refine your tooth positions, bite, and smile arc.

Ceramic brackets continue to hold the wires in the planned positions, allowing detailed control of angulation, rotation, and root position.

We will keep you updated on how far you have come and what the next goals are.

You can ask questions and share any areas that feel uncomfortable so they can be adjusted.

Once your teeth are largely aligned, the focus shifts to your bite and the fine details of your smile. 

We will check how your back teeth fit together, how your upper and lower teeth overlap, and whether your midlines match your facial midline. 

When your teeth goals are met and your bite is stable, your braces are removed.

The ceramic brackets are gently detached from your teeth and the adhesive is polished away.

You can feel the smooth surfaces of your teeth again and see your new smile clearly.

3D intraoral impressions are taken to make your retainers.

You will then be guided on how often you should wear them, how to clean them, and how to ensure your teeth is retained in its current position.

You can choose between clear removable retainers, fixed bonded retainers or metal retainers to help maintain your alignment.

After ceramic braces removal, your orthodontic journey does not stop there! 

You will produce a set of retainers to retain your new set of teeth. 

If you are planning teeth whitening, bonding, dental veneers, or other dental aesthetic treatments, these are scheduled once your orthodontic result is stable.

The same attention to aesthetics and function continues in this phase, ensuring that any further dental work complements your new tooth positions and supports long term stability.
